Image Stabilization or IS, is a technology which has changed photography. The technology helps to reduce vibration. The entire thing takes place in the camera. The system has been designed for when you hold the camera. If you use IS when you have your camera set up on a tripod, the wrong data may be sent to the camera sensor and the operating system of a camera.
